Green prices are Sweet Maria's 1 lb prices as listed on Oct 20, 2026. If a green price changes, the bag price changes with it.

How pricing works

One pound, three batches, one formula

Every coffee is priced the same way. No hidden margins, no "premium" markups.

  1. 01

    1 lb of green

Start with one pound of green coffee at the price Sweet Maria's charges.

  2. 02

    Split into 3

The pound is weighed out into 3 small batches of 151.2g green, one batch per order.

  3. 03

    Roasted your way

Your batch is roasted to the level you choose. Roasting drives off water, so it loses about 15–18% of its weight, more at darker roasts. That's roughly 124g–129g in the bag, and the exact net weight is printed on the label.

  4. 04

    Cost × 4

Each batch costs 4 times its share of the green. That covers everything else: roasting, bags, labels and time.

Worked example · Birbirsa$8.95 green ÷ 3 = $2.98 per batch × 4 = $11.93 a bag

Custom order · 151g batch

Roast levels

City to Full City+

Typical weight loss and net weight from a 151.2g green batch:

City~15% · ≈ 129g
Lightest we offer. Brightest acidity, most origin character.
City+~16% · ≈ 127g
A touch more development. Sweetness rounds out the acidity.
Full City~17% · ≈ 125g
Medium. Fuller body, caramel and cocoa begin to lead.
Full City+~18% · ≈ 124g
Darkest we offer. Bittersweet chocolate and heavy body, often good for espresso.

The name

Named for the mill

Clopper Mill takes its name from the old grist mill on Great Seneca Creek, where local harvests were once ground by the turn of a water wheel. Same idea here: good raw material, steady hands, nothing hidden.

Maryland cottage food law

Why we don't ship (yet)

Clopper Mill operates as a Maryland cottage food business, roasting in a home kitchen. Cottage foods can only be sold within Maryland, so for now all sales are in person: local pickup and our Montgomery County stall. Shipping will come once we roast in a licensed facility.

Made by a cottage food business that is not subject to Maryland's food safety regulations.
